  1. To Graham,

One of the greatest talents and inspirations of our era. It was a pleasure and a privilege to have known you albeit for far too short a time. You have touched the lives of so many of us in the world of music; we shall never forget you.

At least now you are free of pain.
Val, you are very much in our thoughts at this tragic time.

    Love
    Anne & Jules

  2. Hi Graham, we met in K.Lynn Hospital, when you kindly offered help. Sorry I lost your email address, but would very much like some advice on some of our Sibelius produced scores.

  7. hi graham, rob here. just googled you after talking to a mate about top banana. dont no if you remember me but you gave me a couple of years worth of guitar lessons about 8 years ago (i was only 16) and i filled in for you at hobgoplin once. sorry to hear about your on goin health prblems. i still play guitar very keenly however im not as good without your expert teaching. thank you for everything i learned alot of life lessons from you as well how to play guitar. would be good to hear from you mate .r

  8. Hello!

Are you just that Graham who I have met some day, one year, ” almost a hundred years ago ” ? You look like the same. Anyway, your pages are very nice and the photo looks like somebody I know.
    Best wishes. Eija

  9. Hi Graham,

I had written you earlier, when we scheduled an interview…I did not get to hear from you again. Let me know if you still want the interview.

    • Ambrose, Things have been a bit rough recently as you can imagine (the cancer got in the way!) and yes I would still like to do the interview. I’ll contact you shortly.

  10. Hi there Graham,

Great to see you Tele in hand and big smile on your face. Is that the John Jorgenson one you bought while you were teaching me?

It sounds like you’ve got yourself nicely established in Norfolk. I hear that a large number of the inhabitants there have three eys and four ears but of course that could be wild conjecture!

I’m still being taught guitar by the long suffering Edd. I’m getting there slowly I think – very slowly! Thanks for puting me in touch with him.

All the very best to you,

    Martin

    • Martin, so good to hear from you. I remember playing at Wealdstock with you and everything else! Remember playing the guitar is like catching aids-
you struggle all your life with it, and then it kills you! I would love to see you again, perhaps when I return to Sussex sometime? The blonde 3 pick-up
guitar in the pic is a signature James Burton, I still have John’s guitar (hanging on my wall) but still favour ‘The White Lady’ ’62 strat for live work.
Take care and if you can’t take care……..take money. If you can’t take money…….take umbrage!

  11. hi graeham good practice wed you play very well c u next wed

  12. Hey graham long time no see i was very worried about you over so many years and i herd rumors that you had left this world due to cancer…well i wanted to be proven wrong so i went to the Hobgoblin store in northgate to find the truth in this matter and they told me you had moved up north, its a shame your not back down here(crawley) i have some of my best memorys as a growing child with you teaching me guitar,my dislexcier became my knock back for the lessons but i still proseeded to learn and become good due to your pefect ways and skills of teaching.I hope you can rember me and also mike who had the pink squire fender haha.We both saw you as a demi god with your skills and was honored to be sitting next to the god father of classic and rock guitar teaching.I still play guitar now but i have a small family also to look after for and ive been thinking of following your shoes to become a guitar teacher as well as you have made such a impact on my life as a person and a guitarist. But now i play a role in a band when i dont touch the guitar which bothers me from time to time but being a vocalist is a good part of being musician but miss the independents of playing guitar live.
I would to meet up when you and i have some free time and am willing to travel your way if that helps.
sorry to here about your cancer but am glad from what i read from your last post that your all well now, cancer is one of the worst fears as i have lost family due to it.
Any ways please keep in contact as i want to here more of your great experdisions of your past and present if you want to see how far i have came please look me up on facebook or check my band (This Means War) on myspace.

All the best buddie and keep on rocking this world
    Nick Elston

    • Nick, I remember you very well and I’m delighted that you are making your way. Thanks for all the lovely comments, I’ll send you my address and you’re welcome to come and visit. I live in a most delightful village and we have a river in front of our house-and yes I achieved my dream of having a boat!

  13. Hello G ,hope alls well, have lost all numbers, could you email me or give me a call, are you coming down for checkups, shall I drive up R x

  14. Hi Graham, I just googled you and found this web site. Reading between the lines, a lot has obviously gone on since we last met – probably my sister’s wedding 10 years ago!
Perhaps you could give me a call sometime.

    • Anthony,
I am so pleased that you have contacted me. Yes a lot has gone on in the last few years. I have liver cancer which is being treated (I think successfully) at Kings College Hospital; five years ago, they gave me 3 months to live! I try not to be boring about it though, as positiveness is all important. I can say that, despite everything (and there’s loads more!), I don’t think I’ve been happier. Will ring soon.
      Love
      Graham.

  15. Hi Graham !

I was wondering if you have the contact of the members of Ofo & the Black Company because my friend and I were wondering about them and wanted to know if they have some unreleased material that could be as interesting as the powerful “Allah Wakbarr” song…

I red that you played with them ? Maybe you can remember if some other songs were in the same vein than this one…

    Thank’s and take care !

    Greg from Switzerland

    • Greg,
Unfortunately, I have no contact with any members of the band……it was 35 years ago! However, I am trying to source the recordings we made at Decca……check the website for any details that I get. I suppose you know that Lari died a few years ago and I’ve just discovered that another member has died in a drowning incident in Nigeria recently. You would like AY AY AY………it being similar to Allah Wakbarr. I’m told there is a recording available but have been unable to source it. Most of the other available material is mostly ‘high-life’ and relatively tame. Good luck in your searching.
      Graham.

  16. Hi Graham

I came across your website and thought I’d say hello. You may remember that you gave me lessons in Crawley. I’m not sure when, 7 or 8 years ago perhaps. Although I was enthusiastic I wasn’t really confident enough to continue playing on my own. However I have recently picked my guitar up again and am putting in lots of practice with the help of the Jamplay website. I moved to Somerset in 2005 and was surprised to see that you too have moved to another part of the country.

I am sorry to learn of your continuing health problems but it’s good to know you’re still playing and being an inspiration to others. I will keep you in my prayers.

Sending you all good wishes, and lots of love
    Jacqueline
